OUR ICARUS‏

With the news that Qantas is losing 5000 jobs, and a hell of a lot in middle management, it makes you wonder just how the Qantas board was able to sit back and watch this eventuality occur for more than FIVE YEARS?

Normally in the corporate world, a CEO has but only 18 months to 2 years to prove themselves as a profit maker or they are removed, so how is it that Qantas CEO, Alan Joyce was able to maintain his 5 million plus a year job for so many years?

Sure, there are many factors to why an Airline would lose or make money and just some of these market and external forces are responsible for what is happening to Qantas now. I am sure that militant unionist wage and conditions demands have had their own effect but just as damaging would be the Carbon Tax, along with the increased high quality competitiveness from other airlines in the market.

I am also privy from a most reliable inside source that there are definitely too many chiefs & not enough Indians at Qantas, thus there is great wage waste in the middle management sector.

All this however does not explain why a long term national and international carrier with the highest safety record in the world is losing millions a quarter, unless the Captain of this plane is making poor choices.

The JetStar and Asian JetStar ventures have definitely been bad moves for Qantas and this is not recent news. Hanging on to these money pits has in fact been more about personal pride than good management, something that Mr Joyce needs to fall on his golden sword for, in my opinion.

When the PM does remove the restriction to foreign ownership laws, another reason why Qantas hasn't been on a level playing field for years, then my guess is that Emirates will buy the majority Qantas shares and I believe that although the brand will always maintain its high quality service & safety standard, that the new owners will change many more things on the ground including wages & conditions.

This will no doubt lead to industrial action and loss of jobs. I wonder where Alan Joyce and his compliant board will be then?............ not applying for the dole, that's for sure!

The constant sabotage by maintenance unions until Joyce grounded the fleet also bled Qantas dry.  Grounding the fleet woke the unions up and stopped the maintenance faults but Qantas had already lost a lot of passengers by then.  The brand had been badly damaged  -- JR

UNITED IN THEIR DISGRACE‏

WHAT A POLITICAL COWARD!

Am I talking about the disgraceful display during yesterday's Senate hearing from the 'Unionist for Ever', Shadow Minister of Defence, Stephen Conroy. Where he publicly slurred the good name of one of this countries great Australian Military leaders?...... well no, I could not in polite circles state here a word befitting the character of that ALP minister.

The coward that I speak of is the so called "leader" of the ALP, the Hon. Bill Shorten. His quite candid support today for the disturbing actions of Conroy, speaks volumes of just who is running the Federal ALP. Clearly Shorten relies so heavily on the support of the left of the Party, that to even think of asking Conroy to publicly sat SORRY for accusing a decorated 3 Star General of compliance in some sort of Governmental "cover up", without any proof mind you! is so impossible, PROVES to me that there is a new mob of "Faceless Men" running the agenda and that Bill Shorten is nothing more than a poster boy puppet.

At a time when the ALP Leader could have walked into question time with his head held high and waving the latest News Poll, the highest approval rating in ages, he allowed his mate Conroy to go unchecked thus giving the Government so much ammunition to fire, that all Shorten could do was sit their and cop the barrage. In my humble opinion, if Shorten doesn't take back the reins of the ALP from the leftist union masters and numbers men, then he will soon suffer the fate of his last two predecessors and will go down in Australia Political history as the WIMPIEST ALP Leader of all time.

SCOTT IN LOONEYLAND‏

On the Left hand mushroom is the Labor Party;  On the right hand mushroom is the Greens.  Scott Morrison is the immigration minister in Australia's conservative Federal government

When written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym of Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was seen as the most spectacular literary journey of fantasy & imagination that the world had seen. So much so that many were convinced that such fancy could only have been conceived under the  influence of mind altering drugs such as Opium.

Maybe so, but after listening to the outrageous claims and statements regarding "our murdering of an asylum seekers and the sacking of one of our best Federal Ministers" all from the leaders of the Party for Drugs and Marxist Good Times, THE GREENS, well, Alice's journey down the rabbit hole looks far more like a factual wildlife documentary.

The madness isn't just parochial, as the most murderous regimes in the world, China & Iran, have now publicly backed the Greens claims of our shameful inhumane treatment of illegal arrivals.

Seriously, the Greens are the Greens and I guess we can expect much more MADNESS from them as long as the Stoners, the ideological naval gazers and the Red Diaper Babies of the 60's continue to support their hidden agendas BUT the real threat to us all is the alliance that the once sensible ALP now have with this mob of Marxists.

Leader of the ALP, Bill Shorten should immediately stop being the Mad Hatter at the Greens CRAZY TEA PARTY and sip from the bottle marked "REALITY" if he truly cares about his own job, his Party and above all, about Australia!!!

The Dawning of the Age of Non Entitlement‏

The debate about the value and or destructive nature of our socialised medical system goes on and on and on. This time though I think that our PM will actually do something about it. Hopefully MEDICARE will be means tested and only those who truly are unable to afford medical insurance and care will be the recipients of what is essentially welfare.

In this cartoonists' opinion, it's time that this expensive free ride for so many was over and that people start to aspire to earn more, do more for themselves and families and take more personal responsibility for their lives and health.

It's not rocket science‏

Sure, I agree that the drought, just like a flood, is a natural disaster and as Australians we should have our tax payer dollars used to assist our brothers & sisters on the land.

The unnatural disaster that has for years done all that it can to destroy the lives of these Australians, can be easily dealt with at the next ballot.

Voting GREEN is always throwing fuel onto a tragic and expensive fire that Australians have been battling with since settlement --  our unique weather.

Still not safe in the water OR THE LAND!!!‏

This one is a take on the WA Shark Cull ......

...... and the factional blood bath going on in the State ALP in SA in their election run up.
